Personal Profile

Supavadee Aramvith received a B.S. (first class honors) degree in Computer Science from Mahidol University in 1993. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle, USA, in 1996 and 2001, respectively.

 

She joined Chulalongkorn University in June 2001. She is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering specializing in Video Signal Processing. She has successfully advised 14 Ph.D. and 36 Master’s graduates. She published over 150 papers in International Journals and Conference Proceedings with 5 International Book Chapters.

 

She has rich project management experience as a project leader and technical advisor to the Thailand government bodies in telecommunications and ICT. She is very active in the international arena, having leadership positions in IEEE and NICT ASEAN IVO. She has received numerous domestic and international awards for her outstanding performance.

As an associate professor at Chulalongkorn University, she has mentored over 80 students across Ph.D., Master’s, and undergraduate levels. Her academic rigor and dedication to education highlight her long-term investment in developing future engineers.

With over 150 international publications and 4 book chapters in video technology and ICT, Dr. Supavadee is a recognized expert in her field. She is one in a few expert in video coding. Her research and teaching keep her closely connected to cutting-edge innovation.

She has successfully led national telecom and ICT projects, serving as both a project leader and technical advisor to government bodies. Her experience ensures she can manage complex initiatives with strategic vision and practical execution.

She actively engages in international collaboration through IEEE and NICT ASEAN IVO. Her presence on the global stage ensures that Region 11 will be well represented and heard.

Dr. Supavadee is a strong voice for equity and inclusion in engineering. She champions initiatives that support women in STEM, early-career professionals, and underrepresented groups.

My 30-year journey with IEEE started as a graduate student member.  Over a decade, I have successfully spearheaded and delivered highly impactful member engagement and global and regional initiatives in various IEEE boards and committees. I have gained substantial expertise and experience managing international and regional IEEE programs with recent recognitions from IEEE. 

 

  1. 2023 IEEE WIE Inspiring Member of the Year Award 

  2. 2019 MGA Leadership Award for the outstanding leadership and contributions for delivering joint MGA-EAB educational activities to benefit the members in Region 10.
